Moreyam

Photographer

Moriyam is originally from Shabe Bazaar (Ta Man Tar) in Maungdaw, Rakhine State, Myanmar. In 2017, she and her family escaped the atrocities in Myanmar to find refuge in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, home to the world’s largest refugee camp. ‘The shift in our lives since coming to this camp is monumental compared to what we knew in Myanmar,’ —she explains.

Determined to bring attention to the ongoing struggles of her community, Moriyam has turned to photography as her medium of choice. ‘Photography allows me to spotlight the resilience and fortitude that characterise my community,’ —she says. Her lens focuses on capturing the essence of survival and the spirit of resilience that pervades her community. ‘Each photograph serves as a chapter in our collective story of enduring strength amidst hardship,’ —she said.
